"First Priority Buyers"
Officers, Teachers, Firefighters, and EMTs

Homes are available to law enforcement officers, teachers, firefighters, and EMTs ("First Priority Buyers") the first five (5) calendar days prior to availability to other eligible buyers.

There is no special discount on the purchase price of a home when buying from EHOP-Dallas.  First Priority Buyers must intend to live in the home for at least one (1) year.

Officer, Teacher, Firefighter, and EMT Definitions

First Priority Buyers must meet one of the following definitions.

An Officer is defined as an individual who is:

1. Employed full time by:
   a. A Federal, state, county or municipal government; or 
   b. A public or private college or university; and
2. In carrying out such full-time employment, you are sworn to uphold, and make arrests for violations of, Federal, state, county or municipal law.

A Teacher is defined as an individual who is:

Employed full time by a public school, private school, or Federal, state, county or municipal educational agency as a state certified classroom teacher or administrator in grades K-12.

A Firefighter/EMT is defined as an individual who is:

Employed full-time as a firefighter or emergency medial technician by a fire department or emergency medial services responder unit of a federal, state, or general local government.

First Priority Buyers must complete a homeownership education course from one of the HUD approved Homebuyer Education Providers listed on this web site and provide a Certificate of Completion to the mortgage lender.

First Priority Buyers must submit a completed Officer, Teacher, Firefighter, or EMT Certification Form as part of the Purchase Offer.

Sales to First Priority Buyers are not income restricted.

First Priority Buyers must meet all other program guidelines.  To ensure fairness and to provide as many homeownership opportunities as possible, eligible buyers will be permitted to purchase no more than one (1) EHOP-Dallas home in any three (3) year period.
